The Most Awaited New Smartphones Coming in 2022

How to buy the best smartphone for you

The year 2021 was favorable for smartphones, but 2022 might be even better. There are rumors of a significant redesign for the iPhone 14 Pro, a plethora of new foldable phones, and solid flagships. As an example, the Samsung Galaxy S22 range, which includes the very different Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra, has already been released.

There is a lot coming up, and although we have already through the first hectic time of the year, there will soon be another busy time for smartphone releases.

Finding the best smartphone for your money can be difficult, especially with so many pricey contracts to choose from. To make things easier, we've compiled a list of everything you need to know about purchasing your ideal smartphone, as well as selecting a plan.

Should I choose a contract or SIM-free smartphone?

In general, getting an unlocked and SIM-free phone is the ideal option because you may use any SIM card you want and sell the phone when you want to upgrade, but you must have the money beforehand. If you can't afford the upfront cost, go with a plan, but estimate the overall cost over the term to ensure you're not getting ripped off: if you can pay a bit more upfront, you'll most likely save over the term.

Which operating system do I need for my smartphone?

You can decide between the two smartphone operating system in 2022: iOS and Android

iOS is only available on Apple's own smartphones. Typically, iOS receives apps first and is a fantastically slick operating system. It may not be as customizable as Android, but it is undeniably simple to use.

Android has a significantly broader reach than Apple and is present on the greater part of devices on the market. However, there are numerous versions of Google's operating system accessible. In general, you'll want a smartphone operating Android 11 or higher, as lower versions are already obsolete. Manufacturers frequently customize their own versions of Android, thus the experience may differ between handsets

What characteristics should I look for in a smartphone display?

As most smartphones are controlled by touchscreens, display size and quality are crucial. A larger screen is easier to read and is great for online browsing, but it makes the phone bulkier and tougher to carry.

The pixel density of a screen, measured in pixels per inch (ppi), indicates how clear and sharp text will seem on a screen - a smaller number of pixels extended across a large screen, for example, can result in jagged edges. Screen technology is also essential, with AMOLED panels and IPS being the two main technologies, each with its own set of advantages and disadvantages.

What about performance and battery life?

Presently, most smartphones are powered by octa-core processors. In general, the clock speed of a processor, which is measured in gigahertz (GHz), shows how fast the phone is and gives you a general idea of how smooth the operating system feels and how well the phone handles running apps and games.

We've put together a list of the confirmed releases, probable launches, and rumored reveals for 2022 anticipated smartphones, so you'll know exactly what to expect.

The Most Awaited New Smartphones Coming in 2022

1. Google Pixel 7

Google has announced its new top-of-the-line phones, but more information is still to come.

Google provided us with a sneak peek of the Google Pixel 7. Following a teaser at the Google I/O developer conference in May, We are aware that the phone features updated camera lenses on the unique horizontal bar (which is now made of aluminum).

Pixel 7 will have a new Google Tensor chip that is the next generation. At this point, we don't know how well it will run, but if it's anything like its predecessor, the Pixel 7 might be a top-notch smartphone.

Due out "later this year," we anticipate the Pixel 7 will come in October, which is when Google's flagship smartphones have historically been unveiled. Pricing is unknown, but we expect it to be more affordable than Apple and Samsung's offering

2. Motorola Frontier

In recent years, Motorola's cell phones have had high-end features for mid-range prices. It looks like its next phone will go one step further: Early leaks show that the Frontier, which is said to be coming out this summer, has a huge camera housing that holds what is said to be a huge 194MP main sensor. The same sources say that it will have 50MP ultrawide and 12MP telephoto cameras on either side of it.

Even if the rumors are true, the other specs are still pretty cool. They hint at a 6.7-inch OLED screen on the front, a Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 Plus chip on the inside, 125W fast charging, and 5G support.

The latest information suggests that the game could come out in July, but there's no word yet on how much it will cost. Motorola's most recent phones have been in the middle of the pack, but if the price jump from the Edge 20 Pro to the Edge 30 Pro is any indication, the Frontier could have a price tag that matches its huge number of megapixels.

3. Nokia 10 PureView

Since the unveiling of the Nokia 9 PureView at MWC 2019 in February, rumors have been spreading in terms of a possible successor. Despite the lengthy wait, little is known about whether, when, or how the multi-lens mobile will be succeeded.

Nokia 9.3, 10, X50, X60… Several names have been given to the mysterious device. But the soothsayers all agree on one thing: they hope it will set a new standard for Nokia. We'd bet that a PureView follow-up would have a lot of cool camera tech. For the new device to keep up with its competitors, it would also need to connect to 5G.

Four cameras, large batteries, strong processors: rumors circulate about the Nokia 10 PureView, but specs are few. Some sources say the silence is due to silicon shortages. Who knows?

It's not obvious if the device is in the works, let alone how much it would cost (smartphone prices have risen since its predecessor arrived at £549 / $699). This isn't a good bet, but we're still hoping for a new Nokia flagship in 2022.

4. Xiaomi 12 Ultra

Xiaomi's twin-screen 11 Ultra released last year with enough megapixels to satisfy smartphone photographers. Its successor could lift the bar even higher.

Xiaomi 12 Ultra is rumored to release in June, with a global rollout planned later in the year. Other rumors suggest a 50MP 1/1.1in or 1in Sony sensor for the main camera, giving the 12 Ultra low-light chops. Ultra-wide and telephoto lenses may not change.

Uncertain if the secondary back display will remain in the camera hump. Online chatter mentions a 120Hz OLED display, 120W fast-charging, and Snapdragon 8 Gen 1+. We want fewer software gimmicks, better heat management, and a lower pricing.

5. Asus ROG Phone 6

The Asus ROG Phone 5 was our favorite gaming phone of 2021. It had flawless performance, a beautiful display, and plenty of gaming-focused features.

Few details are available about the ROG Phone 6, although Asus is likely developing a successor. Like every ROG improvement before it, it'll have quicker performance, slicker tricks, and a better screen.

When can we anticipate Asus's ROG Phone 6? All ROG Phones save the 5 released in autumn. Keep a watch out for the ROG Phone 6 in August 2022.

Apple iPhone 14

Apple is scheduled to release a new crop of iPhones in 2022, just like a clockwork. And, as with the iPhone 12 and 13, the iPhone 14 family will most likely feature a basic, a Mini, a Pro, and a Pro Max model.

Apple has traditionally only given its flagship iPhones a significant upgrade every other year. This pattern was followed with the iPhone 13, which had nearly identical dimensions and designs to the iPhone 12, but also improved camera hardware and performance.
